Spa breaksEl Salvador is located in the Central America. It shares its borders with the Guatemala and Honduras. El Salvador is the smallest country in continental America, and is the only Central American country that does not have a Caribbean coastline. San Salvador is the capital city. The highest point in the country is Cerro El Pital at 2,730 meters.
It has 123.6 square miles of water within its borders. There are several small rivers that flow through the El Salvador into the Pacific Ocean, these includes the Torola, Goascoran, Jibao, Paz and the Rio Grande de san Miguel. The only largest river, the Lempa River that flows from the Honduras across El Salvador to the ocean is navigable for commercial traffic. The volcanic craters enclose the lakes; the most significant of them are Lake Ilopango and Lake Coatepque. The lake Guija is El Salvador’s largest natural lake.
